ODESSA, TEXAS – A 15-year-old boy is facing capital murder charges after authorities say he fatally shot his ex-girlfriend’s mother and two of her siblings inside an apartment in Odessa, Texas. Police responded to reports of gunfire at the residence around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday and found three victims dead inside the home. The suspect fled the scene but was located and taken into custody roughly 40 minutes later, according to police. Investigators described the attack as intentional and targeted, calling it a devastating act of violence that has deeply shaken the community.
Police said the investigation determined the teenager had initially planned to shoot his ex-girlfriend outside her school but ultimately changed course and went to her home instead. Once inside, authorities say he shot the woman’s mother, 39-year-old Jessica Rodriguez, before killing her two children, a 9-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. The ex-girlfriend was not physically injured, though officials said she is coping with the loss of her family. The suspect, whose name has not been released due to his age, was charged with capital murder of multiple persons and is being held at the Ector County Youth Center as the investigation continues.
