More than 200,000 portable power banks have been recalled after reports of overheating and fires, which caused minor injuries and more than $380,000 in property damage.

The recall affects the INIU 10,000mAh portable power bank, model BI-B41. The products were sold on Amazon.com between August 2021 and April 2022 for around $18. At least 15 incidents of overheating were reported, including 11 fires and three minor burn injuries.

The recalled power banks come in black or blue, feature the INIU logo and a paw-print LED on the front, and carry serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21, and 000L21, which can be found on the back or bottom of the device.

Consumers are advised to stop using the power banks immediately and not dispose of them in regular trash, as lithium-ion batteries can ignite. Proper disposal varies by location, so owners should contact their local household hazardous waste collection center for guidance. Customers can also submit a recall claim directly through INIU’s website.
