Alibaba unveiled its first smart glasses powered by artificial intelligence on Monday, marking the company’s entry into the wearable tech market. The Quark AI Glasses, set to launch in China by the end of 2025, will feature hardware integrated with Alibaba’s Qwen large language model and its AI assistant called Quark. This move positions Alibaba as a key player in China’s growing AI and wearable technology sectors.
The glasses are designed to compete directly with Meta’s smart glasses, developed in partnership with Ray-Ban, and Chinese rival Xiaomi, which recently introduced its own AI glasses. The Quark AI Glasses will offer features such as hands-free calling, music streaming, real-time language translation, and meeting transcription, along with a built-in camera. Additionally, the glasses will integrate Alibaba’s suite of services, allowing users to navigate with maps, pay using Alipay, and shop on Taobao. Pricing and detailed technical specifications have yet to be announced.
