Trump announces US plans to build food centers in Gaza

President Donald Trump announced Monday that the United States will work with the United Kingdom to build food centers in Gaza to help address severe hunger in the region.

Speaking during a meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said, “Before we get to Phase 2, we want to get the children fed. We’re going to set up food shelters where people can walk in. No boundaries, no fences.” This announcement comes amid reports from the World Food Programme that the entire Gaza region is facing critical food insecurity.

Israel recently announced a daily 10-hour humanitarian pause in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Muwasi to allow aid delivery and resumed food airdrops, but aid organizations warn these efforts are insufficient to meet the growing needs. Trump did not specify a timeline for the establishment of the food centers.
