Ace Hardware expands store fulfillment with new distribution facility

Ace Hardware has expanded its supply chain network with the opening of a massive new logistics hub designed to strengthen support for its stores across the central United States. The new retail support center, located in Kansas City, Missouri, spans over 1.5 million square feet and stretches half a mile from one end to the other. First announced in 2023, the facility’s location was chosen for its proximity to the geographic center of the continental U.S., with direct access to Interstate 29 and Kansas City International Airport, ensuring efficient highway and air freight connections.

This state-of-the-art center is nearly twice the size of the average Ace Hardware distribution facility and is expected to create more than 350 new jobs in the region. Equipped with advanced automation technology and systems to improve efficiency, the hub is designed to speed up product delivery to thousands of locally owned Ace stores while reducing environmental impact as part of the company’s long-term sustainability goals. John Venhuizen, president and CEO of Ace Hardware, described the new facility as a symbol of teamwork and commitment to supporting communities. Based in Oak Brook, Illinois, Ace Hardware operates more than 8,700 locally owned stores worldwide, including nearly 5,200 in the U.S.
