Denny’s is taking “drip” to a whole new level.
To mark National Maple Syrup Day on Dec. 17, the diner chain is releasing Sticky Kicks, a limited-edition high-top sneaker filled with real Denny’s syrup sealed inside. The shoes were created in collaboration with footwear artist Dan Gamache, also known as Mache, and pay a playful tribute to the syrup that has been a staple of Denny’s Grand Slams for decades.
Each pair features a clear panel filled with syrup, syrup-colored patent leather, tumbled yellow accents, and a Denny’s logo embossed on the heel. “Sticky Kicks are impractical, unnecessary, and completely over the top, which is exactly why we love them,” said Ellie Doty, senior vice president and chief brand officer at Denny’s. “Syrup isn’t just something we serve. It’s part of who we are. It’s our golden thread. So it only makes sense we’d turn it into fashion.”
The sneakers will be available Dec. 17 at noon EST on DinerDrip.com, with early access for Denny’s Rewards members an hour before the public using a special code. Sticky Kicks come in men’s sizes 8–13 and are priced at $195.
Gamache described the project as a balance of craftsmanship and absurdity, noting that the syrup-filled design presented some “sticky moments” during development. “Creating this true collector’s shoe is something we are all so proud of,” he said.
Denny’s said the release reflects its ongoing effort to merge diner culture with pop culture in unexpected ways and to show that syrup isn’t just for pancakes anymore. A key note for buyers: the syrup inside the shoes is not edible, and Denny’s strongly warns against puncturing the sneakers.
