Heavy rains early Sunday morning triggered severe flooding northwest of St. Louis, prompting evacuations and swift-water rescues in the area. Officials from Lincoln County Emergency Management in Missouri confirmed that the city of Elsberry and Lincoln County have both declared a state of emergency in response to the flooding.
The flash flooding has significantly impacted Elsberry and its surroundings, leading authorities to request activation of the Region C Boat Rescue Strike Team to aid in rescue efforts. Residents are urged to avoid the affected area as emergency crews conduct water rescues and assist with evacuations. The Winfield Foley Fire Protection District deployed its swift-water rescue team to Elsberry, working closely with other agencies to help those trapped or endangered by the rising waters.
