Caitlin Clark stalker sentenced to 2.5 years in prison

Michael Lewis, 55, who was accused of stalking and harassing basketball star Caitlin Clark, was sentenced Monday to 2.5 years in prison. The Texas native appeared in an Indiana courtroom, where he pleaded guilty to one felony count of stalking and one misdemeanor count of harassment after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors.

In addition to his prison sentence, Lewis was ordered to have no contact with Clark and to stay away from locations including Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indiana Fever events, and Pacers organization events. During the hearing, the judge reprimanded Lewis several times, including an instance when he put something in his mouth, which he explained was headphones due to nervousness. Prosecutors confirmed that Clark supported the plea deal, emphasizing that it holds Lewis accountable and allows her to regain peace of mind. Lewis had allegedly sent hundreds of threatening and sexually explicit messages to Clark between December 2024 and January 2025. Clark, limited by injury this season, has played in 13 games, averaging 16.5 points and 8.8 assists per game.
