Amazon has expanded its Same-Day Delivery service to more than 2,300 cities and towns across the U.S., allowing customers to receive fresh groceries alongside other essentials. The company plans to continue adding more locations throughout 2026.
Since launching the option for perishable items in August, Amazon shoppers have ordered everything from fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meat, seafood, baked goods, and frozen foods to electronics, pantry staples, and household essentials like toothpaste and paper towels. The service uses a temperature-controlled fulfillment network and a six-point quality check to ensure items arrive fresh, with insulated bags for temperature-sensitive products. Fresh groceries now dominate the most-ordered items, with bananas, avocados, strawberries, and honeycrisp apples topping the list. Same-Day Delivery is free for Prime members on orders over $25, with a $2.99 fee for smaller orders, while non-Prime customers can access the service for $12.99 per order. Amazon has also expanded its perishable selection by over 30% since August, including thousands of items from Whole Foods Market.
