Amazon has launched a pilot program called Amazon Now, offering ultra-fast delivery of household essentials and groceries in select neighborhoods of Seattle and Philadelphia. Customers in eligible areas can receive items in roughly 30 minutes after placing an order.

To make the 30-minute promise possible, Amazon has set up small fulfillment centers near dense urban neighborhoods. Residents outside these zones will continue to use standard delivery options. The service covers a range of everyday items, including milk, eggs, fresh produce, diapers, pet supplies, over-the-counter medicines, paper goods, cosmetics, snacks, electronics, and more. Orders can be placed via the Amazon app or website, with a “30-Minute Delivery” option appearing only in participating neighborhoods.

The service comes with added costs. Prime members pay a fee starting at $3.99 per order, while non-Prime users are charged $13.99. Orders under $15 incur an additional $1.99 small-basket surcharge. Amazon Now is therefore most suitable for quick, small purchases like grabbing eggs, toothpaste, or pet food, rather than large grocery restocks.
