Apple TV has confirmed that Platonic will return for a third season, following the Season 2 finale, which aired on October 1.
The series stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as Will and Sylvia, two longtime friends who reconnect in adulthood. Sylvia is married, while Will is navigating a divorce. The show was co-created by Neighbors director Nicholas Stoller and his wife, Francesca Delbanaco; Rogen and Byrne previously played a married couple in the Neighbors films.
Luke Macfarlane plays Sylvia’s husband, Charlie, and father to their three children, portrayed by Sophie Leonard, Max Malenko, and Sophie Kopera. Macfarlane explained that his character has grown comfortable with Will and Sylvia’s renewed friendship. Other main cast members include Tre Hale, Andrew Lopez, and Carla Gallo, while Emily Kimball and Rachel Rosenbloom appeared as Will’s new love interests.
Season 2 also featured guest appearances from Byrne’s partner Bobby Cannavale, along with Saturday Night Live alumni Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, and Aidy Bryant. Rogen, Byrne, Stoller, and Delbanaco serve as executive producers. Rogen additionally stars in and executive produces The Studio for Apple, a project that earned him Emmys for acting, writing, and directing alongside Evan Goldberg.
