Beyoncé is set to return to the Met Gala on the first Monday in May, marking her first appearance at the event in a decade. The superstar will co-chair the gala alongside Vogue’s Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams. Beyoncé last attended in 2016, wearing Givenchy Haute Couture for the “Manus x Machina” theme, and her absence since then has made her return highly anticipated.
Next year’s gala will also feature Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz as co-chairs of the 2026 Met Gala host committee. Other confirmed committee members include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, Chloe Malle, Sam Smith, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson, and Yseult, with additional names expected to be announced in the coming months.
The gala will celebrate the Met’s upcoming Costume Institute exhibition, “Costume Art,” curated by Andrew Bolton. The exhibition will examine the relationship between clothing and the body, organized into thematic sections such as the Naked Body, the Pregnant Body, and the Aging Body. It will be the first show in the Met’s new Condé M. Nast Galleries, a 12,000-square-foot space adjacent to the Great Hall.
Bolton said the exhibition aims to highlight the connection between our bodies and the clothes we wear, emphasizing fashion’s materiality over mere visual appeal. “Costume Art” will be open to the public from May 10, 2026, through January 10, 2027.
