The Detroit Tigers have re-signed closer Kyle Finnegan to a two-year, $19 million contract, keeping the right-handed pitcher with the team through the 2027 season. Finnegan, 34, was acquired by Detroit in a July trade from the Washington Nationals.

Last season, Finnegan combined for a 4-4 record with a 3.47 ERA and 24 saves over 56 appearances between the Nationals and Tigers, including a 3-0 mark with a 1.50 ERA and four saves after joining Detroit. Over his career, he has posted a 26-30 record with a 3.55 ERA and 112 saves across 347 appearances. Originally a sixth-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 2013 MLB Draft, Finnegan signed with the Nationals in 2019 and made his MLB debut in 2020. He was an All-Star in 2024 after recording a career-high 38 saves with a 3.68 ERA over 65 games.

Finnegan will return to a Tigers bullpen that finished ninth in the American League in ERA (4.05), recorded the second-fewest strikeouts, and pitched the third-most innings among AL relief staffs with 622 innings logged.
