Fromm Family Foods is recalling 300 cases of its Bonnihill Farms BeefiBowls Beef Recipe frozen dog food after plastic contamination was discovered, creating a potential choking hazard for pets. The recall affects 16-ounce “gently cooked” frozen chubs with a best-by date of Dec. 25, 2026, and lot code B01.
The dog food was sold in neighborhood pet stores across 14 U.S. states, including Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska, as well as in Ontario, Canada. While no illnesses or injuries have been reported, ingestion of plastic can cause vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort in dogs, and larger amounts may lead to serious issues such as intestinal blockage. Pet owners noticing any of these symptoms should contact a veterinarian immediately.
The recall follows consumer complaints, with the company confirming it identified the source of the contamination and implemented additional safeguards to prevent future problems. No other Fromm products are included in the recall. Owners of the affected Bonnihill BeefiBowls Beef Recipe should stop feeding it to their pets and return it to the retailer for a refund. Consumers can contact Fromm Family Foods at 1-800-325-6331, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time, or by email at info@frommfamily.com for further assistance.
