Ford Motor reported a slight decline in U.S. auto sales for November, as demand for its electric vehicles dropped following the expiration of federal tax credits.
The end of the $7,500 EV tax incentive in October under President Donald Trump’s tax and spending legislation contributed to weaker interest in models like the Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning. Production of the F-150 Lightning was also affected by a fire at an aluminum supplier’s plant, further limiting availability.
Ford’s EV sales fell roughly 61% year over year, totaling 4,247 vehicles in November. Overall, the company’s total U.S. sales edged down nearly 1% to 164,925 units compared with the same month last year.
