New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn announced Monday that defensive coordinator Steve Wilks has been relieved of his duties after just one season with the team.
Defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator Chris Harris will take over as defensive coordinator, with Glenn providing additional guidance. Glenn said the decision was made after evaluating the team’s recent performance, noting that the Jets allowed 82 points over their last two games, including a 48-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. New York ranks 30th in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed, with the fourth-worst run defense in the league. “I felt it was the best decision for the organization at this time,” Glenn said, adding that he regularly evaluates players, coaches, and himself. The Jets, now 3-11, will face the New Orleans Saints, who are 4-10, at 1 p.m. EST on Sunday in New Orleans.
