Kentucky State University officials have identified the student fatally shot on campus Tuesday as 19-year-old De’Jon Darrell Fox Jr., a resident of Indianapolis.

Another student was injured in the shooting and remains in critical condition. The suspect, Jacob Lee Bard from Evansville, Indiana, is not enrolled at the university and has been charged with murder and first-degree assault. Court documents indicate Bard was involved in a physical altercation on campus before firing a gun around 3 p.m., though authorities have not confirmed a motive.

University President Koffi C. Akakpo expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and called for support for students and staff. The university is providing counseling and support services to help the campus community cope with the incident.
