Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) is urging the House Judiciary Committee to open impeachment hearings against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.

Ramirez, in a letter to Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), called for a “complete investigation into Secretary Noem’s unlawful and potentially impeachable actions.” The letter accuses Noem of unethical conduct, including claims that a firm linked to her received DHS contract funds and that the Coast Guard spent $172 million on two private jets associated with her. It also alleges that she made false or misleading statements to Congress regarding DHS and ICE operations and ignored court orders, undermining the separation of powers.

“Secretary Noem has established a clear pattern of lawless behavior, mirrored in the behavior of rank-and-file members of her leadership team,” Ramirez wrote. “When taken together, her actions violate her oath of office.”

The push comes amid a broader Democratic trend of targeting Trump administration officials with impeachment efforts. Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) filed articles of impeachment this week against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., while Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) filed articles against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth last week over Signalgate and a reported strike on a Venezuelan drug boat.

Republicans are unlikely to support Ramirez’s request. A spokesperson for Jordan dismissed the letter as “perhaps the most ridiculous and toothless letter ever written.” A spokesperson for Raskin and DHS did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
