Mariah Carey will bring her iconic pop presence to the Opening Ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The organizing committee revealed on Monday that the 56-year-old singer, best known for hits like “All I Want for Christmas is You,” will be the first international artist confirmed to perform at the Feb. 6 ceremony at Milan’s San Siro stadium.
“Mariah Carey perfectly embodies the emotional energy that leads up to the Games,” the committee said. “Music is a universal language that connects diverse stories and perspectives, aligning with the Opening Ceremony’s theme of harmony.”
The Olympics will take place across northern Italy, with smaller simultaneous ceremonies planned in three mountain clusters. Ballet superstar Roberto Bolle is set to headline the Closing Ceremony on Feb. 22 at Verona’s historic Roman Arena.
