Wenne Alton Davis, an actress who appeared on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” died after being struck by an SUV in Midtown Manhattan earlier this week. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. Monday as Davis, 60, was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street. The SUV, traveling west on West 53rd Street, made a left turn onto Broadway and hit her. She was rushed to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. The driver remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed.
Davis, a resident of Forest Hills, Queens, had been returning home from dinner with friends when the crash occurred. Born on October 18, 1965, in Durham, North Carolina, she moved to New York in her late 20s to pursue acting, initially working in stand-up comedy before transitioning to television. Alongside her acting career, she worked in security at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Her agent described her as someone who loved New York, acting, her colleagues at JFK, and her family and friends. Davis’ screen credits included a 2023 appearance as a police officer on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” as well as roles on “Blindspot,” “New Amsterdam,” “Girls5eva,” “Rescue Me,” and “The Normal Heart.” Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
