Meta is acquiring AI wearable startup Limitless, the companies announced Friday.
Limitless develops a small, AI-powered pendant capable of recording conversations and generating summaries. The startup’s CEO, Dan Siroker, confirmed the deal in a blog post but did not reveal the financial terms.
A Meta spokesperson said the acquisition will help accelerate the company’s efforts to create AI-enabled wearable devices. “We’re excited that Limitless will be joining Meta to help accelerate our work to build AI-enabled wearables,” the spokesperson said.
Siroker noted that the acquisition aligns with Meta’s vision of bringing personal superintelligence to everyone. “We share this vision, and we’ll be joining Meta to help bring our shared vision to life,” he said in a post and video.
The AI wearable market has been expanding gradually this year, though no product has yet dominated the space. Meta’s Ray-Ban smartglasses, which feature a limited AI assistant, have been a notable entry.
Other competitors in the AI wearable sector include Friend, which offers a pendant-style device; Plaud, which comes in a small card or pill shape that can be clipped or worn; and Bee, a wristband device acquired by Amazon in July. Major tech companies are also integrating AI into other devices, including Amazon’s Alexa+ Echo speakers and Google’s Pixel 10 phones with the Gemini assistant.
