LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Two-time Olympic medalist Michelle Kwan announced the arrival of her second child, a daughter named Della Rose Kwan, in an Instagram post on Friday. Sharing the joyful news, Kwan described the moment she held her newborn and watched her older daughter meet her baby sister as emotionally overwhelming.
In her post, Kwan reflected on the challenges of infertility, calling both her daughters miracles after more than a decade of hoping to expand her family. She spoke about the awe-inspiring experience of carrying another life, noting how it highlighted the limits of control and the unpredictability of fertility. Offering encouragement to others facing similar struggles, Kwan expressed hope that families navigating infertility feel loved and supported. The five-time world champion and two-time Olympic medalist retired from competitive skating in 2006, holding a record nine National Championship wins tied with Maribel Vinson, and was the second figure skater to receive the Sullivan Award in 2001. She also served as U.S. Ambassador to Belize from 2022 to 2025.
