SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA – Authorities in San Diego, California, have concluded a search of a Southcrest neighborhood property, recovering one set of human remains.
The remains were discovered on Tuesday after investigators executed a search warrant, with the search continuing into Wednesday amid initial uncertainty about whether multiple sets of remains were present. The identity of the individual has not yet been determined, and an autopsy is planned as part of the ongoing investigation, according to the San Diego County District Attorney’s office.
Dwight William Rhone, 74, a former resident of the property, is considered a person of interest. Rhone is currently in custody facing homicide charges in connection with a separate 2023 murder, though authorities have not confirmed whether that case is related to the discovery at the Southcrest property.
