YAKUTAT, ALASKA – A series of more than 20 earthquakes rattled southeastern Alaska near the U.S.-Canada border on Saturday around noon local time, following a shallow magnitude 7.0 tremor, authorities reported. The main quake was centered approximately 56 miles north of Yakutat, Alaska, and about 230 miles northeast of Juneau, with a depth of 6.2 miles.

Officials from the United States Geological Survey and the Alaska Earthquake Center confirmed that at least 20 aftershocks followed the initial quake, including a magnitude 5.3 and a magnitude 5.0. No reports of damage or injuries have been released.
