Snapchat announced Monday that its end-of-year Recaps are now available, giving users a personalized look back at 2025. The Recap presents a short video highlighting key moments from Snaps, Stories, and Chats, showing how people connected and shared experiences throughout the year.
Users can view their Recap by opening the app and going to the “Memories” section, where a “Your 2025 Snap Recap” card appears. Snapchat also shared statistics on app usage, reporting that users spent nearly 1.7 billion minutes per day on phone calls, up almost 30% from last year, and U.S. users sent over five billion voice notes, a nearly 10% increase. Group chats remained popular, with participation growing by more than 5% and some users sending over 8,880 messages to their top group chat. Chat Reactions rose 44%, led by the heart emoji, and three million more people used stickers to communicate.
The release comes amid criticism over Snapchat’s plan to limit free Memories storage next year. Starting in 2026, users will have 5GB of free storage, with additional storage available through subscription plans: 100GB for $1.99 per month, 250GB for $3.99 per month for Snapchat+ users, and 5TB for $15.99 per month for Snapchat Platinum subscribers. This follows a trend seen with other platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Duolingo, which have also rolled out year-end recaps.
