Searchlight Pictures has set Aug. 7 as the release date for Super Troopers 3, bringing the comedy back to theaters this summer.

The new installment reunites the original cast alongside newcomers Nat Faxon and Chace Crawford, who join as highway patrol officers. Brian Cox and Marisa Coughlan return to reprise their roles as the troopers’ captain and a policewoman, respectively. Additional cast members include Andrew Dismukes, Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudinstsky, and Lisa Gilroy. The film is directed by Chandrasekhar, with the Broken Lizard comedy troupe sharing screenplay credit.

The Super Troopers franchise, known for its offbeat humor, centers on a group of stoner New England highway patrol officers who entertain themselves with pranks and games while on duty. The original 2002 film was the second project from Broken Lizard, a comedy group formed at Colgate University, and the 2018 sequel was produced with support from a Kickstarter campaign.
