President Trump on Monday attributed the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner to what he described as a “mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump characterized Reiner as “a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star” whose intense opposition to him and his administration, he said, contributed to his passing.
Trump’s post stated that Reiner and his wife, Michele, “passed away, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.” He added that Reiner’s “raging obsession” with Trump and “obvious paranoia” reached new heights as the Trump administration “surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness.” The former president concluded by saying, “May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
Reiner and his wife were found dead at their Los Angeles home over the weekend, confirmed by Mayor Karen Bass, who called the deaths “a devastating loss for our city and our country.” The LAPD is investigating the couple’s deaths as a homicide, and their son, Nick Reiner, is in custody. Rob Reiner, 78, directed classics such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and Stand by Me. He was also known for his political activism, frequently criticizing Trump as “mentally unfit” and “the single most unqualified human being to ever assume the presidency of the United States,” and for calling out mainstream media outlets as serving “propaganda for an American president.”
