Tulane has named Will Hall as its new head football coach, the school confirmed Monday. Hall succeeds Jon Sumrall, who will take the head coaching job at Florida.
“I’m truly honored to take on the role of Tulane’s head football coach,” Hall said. “Tulane has always been a special place for me. I’ve experienced its unique spirit and culture, and I’m excited to lead this program with respect for its history, its people, and the city of New Orleans. Together, we’ll build on our success and continue to embody the resilience, pride, and excellence that define Tulane and this community.”
Hall previously served as Tulane’s offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2020 before becoming head coach at Southern Mississippi from 2021 to 2024. He returned this year as the Green Wave’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Hall has also coached at West Alabama, West Georgia, Louisiana, and Memphis, compiling a 70-50 overall coaching record, including 14-30 during his four seasons at Southern Mississippi.
“We are thrilled to select Will Hall as our head coach,” Green Wave athletic director David Harris said. “His character, integrity, and leadership are evident both on and off the field. With extensive head coaching experience and proven success at multiple levels, Will is the right person to lead Tulane Football into its next chapter.”
Sumrall will remain with Tulane through the College Football Playoff. The 11th-seeded Green Wave, with an 11-2 record, will face No. 6 Ole Miss (11-1) in the first round on Dec. 20 in Oxford, Mississippi.
