The U.S. military reported on Monday that it targeted three suspected drug boats in the Eastern Pacific, resulting in eight deaths.
According to Southern Command, the strikes were carried out under the direction of Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Joint Task Force Southern Spear. Intelligence indicated that the vessels were traveling along known narcotics trafficking routes and were actively engaged in illegal drug operations. Officials said three individuals were killed on the first boat, two on the second, and three on the third. The military also released a video showing the strikes on the vessels. This action is the latest in a series of operations in the Pacific, with the Trump administration having previously conducted 25 strikes that resulted in at least 95 deaths.
