Trump says he ended ties with Jeffrey Epstein because ‘he stole people who worked for me’

President Donald Trump said Monday that he cut ties with Jeffrey Epstein years ago and expelled him from his Mar-a-Lago club because Epstein “stole people who worked for me.” Speaking in Scotland, Trump said Epstein took at least one employee from him despite being warned not to do so again.

Trump did not provide further details about the falling out but described Epstein as “persona non grata” after repeated incidents. Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal child sex trafficking charges. The complicated relationship between Trump and Epstein has drawn renewed attention amid recent legal developments involving Epstein’s associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a prison sentence for her role in trafficking underage girls.
