Several ice cream products sold across the country have been recalled due to the presence of undeclared milk allergens.
On Friday, Tropicale Foods announced a recall of 14 ice cream products under the brands La Michoacana and Helados Mexico. While the ingredient list mentions “cream,” the allergen “milk” is not declared, which poses a risk for people with milk allergies or sensitivities. The recall follows a reported illness linked to the undeclared milk.
Milk allergies, common especially among children, can cause severe or even life-threatening reactions if consumed by those affected. The Mayo Clinic advises that individuals with persistent milk allergies avoid milk and dairy products altogether.
Consumers who have these recalled products are urged to discard them immediately if they have milk allergies or sensitivities.
The recalled La Michoacana ice cream products include singles, 6-packs, 12-packs, and 16-packs with various flavors such as coconut, strawberry, bubble gum, cookies and cream, mango, rompope, and assorted cream varieties. The affected products have best-by dates ranging from June 2026 through July 2027.
Similarly, the recalled Helados Mexico ice cream includes 12-pack mini varieties, including plain, chocolate dip, and DLR mini varieties with best-by dates from May 2026 to June 2027.
