‘Worst Cooks in America’ honors Anne Burrell

Food Network paid tribute to Anne Burrell on Monday night during the premiere of the final season of her show, Worst Cooks in America. At the episode’s conclusion, a smiling photo of Burrell appeared on screen with the message, “In Memoriam, Anne Burrell, 1969-2025.”

A support message followed, urging viewers struggling with crisis to seek help by calling or texting 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or visiting 988lifeline.org. The New York Office of Chief Medical Examiner recently confirmed that Burrell died by suicide, with acute intoxication caused by a combination of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine listed as the cause. She was found unresponsive at her New York City home on June 17 and pronounced dead at the scene. Burrell was 55.

Burrell’s television career began as a sous chef on Iron Chef America before she went on to host Secrets of a Restaurant Chef for nine seasons. She also appeared on shows including Chef Wanted, Chopped, and Food Network Star. Her latest Food Network project was House of Knives, which premiered in March.
