Warner Bros. Discovery to rename post-split companies Warner Bros. and Discovery

Warner Bros. Discovery has officially revealed the names and leadership teams for its two new companies following the planned split. David Zaslav’s division, which will focus on streaming and studios, will operate under the name Warner Bros., while Gunnar Weidenfels will lead the global networks business, now called Discovery Global.

The senior executives named for Warner Bros. include co-CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca, DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, HBO and HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys, Warner Bros. TV Group CEO Channing Dungey, COO Bruce Campbell, streaming and games CEO JB Perrette, CTO Avi Saxena, chief communications officer Robert Gibbs, chief legal officer Priya Aiyar, and chief accounting officer Lori Locke. Zaslav emphasized the company’s commitment to continuing Warner Bros.’ century-long legacy by delivering culture-defining entertainment worldwide and highlighted their progress in streaming and studio reinvigoration.

Discovery Global’s leadership includes CNN CEO Mark Thompson, TNT Sports CEO Luis Silberwasser, ad sales chiefs Ryan Gould and Bobby Voltaggio, president of US, UK & Germany Gerhard Zeiler, CTO David Duvall, distribution president Scott Miller, CFO Fraser Woodford, chief development officer Anil Jhingan, executive VP of content strategy Fulvia Nicoli, and international president Fernando Medin. Weidenfels expressed excitement about Discovery Global’s portfolio and global reach, emphasizing the leadership team’s role in driving strategic investments and delivering content worldwide. Warner Bros. is currently searching for a new CFO, while Discovery Global is seeking a head of communications and public affairs.
