Nearly two months after the alleged murder of his three daughters, authorities in Chelan County are beginning to scale back the search for Travis Decker. The children—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—were found dead near Rock Island Campground in Chelan County, Washington, on June 2. They had left home on May 30 for a planned visit with their father.
Officials say the search for Decker will continue but with a reduced presence, as the initial search efforts around the wilderness and crime scene were exhaustive. The sheriff’s office noted there is still no information confirming whether Decker is alive or deceased. Due to a decrease in leads and tips, the search footprint will shrink, though detectives remain actively processing evidence and following any new information about Decker’s possible location, including a recent sighting in Idaho that was not confirmed.
The most recent search took place near Blewett Pass in the Wenatchee Mountains, but investigators said potential evidence there was inconclusive. Authorities urge anyone who finds anything related to the case to mark the location with GPS or take photos if it is safe to do so. Decker is wanted for three counts of first-degree murder and kidnapping and is considered armed and dangerous. A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to his arrest. Anyone who sees Decker or knows his whereabouts is advised to call 911 immediately and not approach him.
