Chaos erupted at a Walmart in Michigan when a man entered the store on a calm Saturday afternoon and stabbed 11 people at random, according to authorities. Six victims were reported in critical condition, and the suspect, a 42-year-old Michigan resident, was quickly taken into custody by a sheriff’s deputy.
The suspect used a folding knife during the attack, which began shortly before 5 p.m. Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying and chaotic. One witness saw the man cut a woman’s throat and later saw shoppers confront and subdue the suspect in the parking lot. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, and all 11 victims were treated at the region’s largest hospital, with four in serious condition and seven in fair condition. Local officials, including Governor Gretchen Whitmer, expressed their sympathy and emphasized the swift response by law enforcement. The FBI also offered support for the ongoing investigation. The incident shocked the Traverse City community, a popular tourist area known for its natural beauty and festivals.
