Russian forces launched overnight attacks on dozens of Ukrainian cities, targeting a correctional facility in Zaporizhzhia and a hospital in Kamianske, resulting in at least 22 deaths and 85 injuries, officials reported Tuesday. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia struck 73 cities and villages during the assault.
Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Ivan Fedorov, governor of Zaporizhzhia, confirmed the attack on the Bilenke Correctional Colony, where 17 people died and 42 were wounded. The Ministry of Justice said four high-explosive aerial bombs hit the facility, destroying its dining hall and severely damaging administrative and quarantine areas. Officials emphasized the perimeter remained intact, preventing inmate escapes. Zelensky also detailed a missile strike on the Kamianske municipal hospital’s maternity ward, killing three—including a pregnant woman named Diana—and injuring five others. Additional attacks in the Synelnykove district and Velykomykhailivska resulted in further casualties. Zelensky condemned the strikes as war crimes and called for increased sanctions to pressure Moscow to cease the violence and accept peace.
